AI is only as powerful as the prompts you give it. Most teams stop at ad-hoc prompting, which makes knowledge hard to share and reuse. A prompt library transforms one-off prompts into an operational system, a shared resource that your whole team can utilize to save time, enhance consistency, and scale effective practices.

A good prompt library isn’t just storage, it’s a system. Instead of rewriting the same prompts repeatedly, you can capture what works, make it reusable, and share it with your team. The goal isn’t to have the biggest library, but one that’s actually useful in daily work. These templates give you a starting point, whether you want something lightweight or more structured.

Ready to build your prompt library? Get started with these templates and tools and to start organizing your AI prompts today.

This is a very basic starter library—the prompt is set up extremely simply.
To get the best results, the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it. Below is another Excel setup based on the AI Prompt Library app I built. You can see the difference. However, there is a lot more work that needs to be put into it.

Advanced Version: Comprehensive Setup

👉 [Copy our advanced spreadsheet with these essential columns]

If you really want to build a solid prompt library, try this more advanced version. This is built based on the App I created. Each category is on its own separate tab.

  • Title: Descriptive name for the prompt template

  • Purpose: What problem does this prompt solve and when to use it

  • AI Persona: The role or expertise the AI should adopt

  • Prompt: The complete template with placeholders and instructions

  • Output Format: Specific formatting requirements for the response

  • Example: Sample input and expected output

  • Reference: Source or inspiration for the prompt approach

Export Ready: Combine a few important columns to create the prompt
